You Can Help

The Santa Barbara County Science and Engineering Fair is a community sponsored and organized event. If you believe that creating a space for students to actively explore scientific and engineering disciplines through individual exploration, we can use your help.

Judges

Our corps of judges make the Fair possible and we always need more. On the day of the Fair, they each spend the morning interviewing student-scientists about their work. These interviews and subsequent rankings help identify the divisional winners.

If you have a background in a science or engineering discipline and can spare a Friday morning in March, we can use you. For more information, please email our Judging Coordinator.

Volunteers

The Fair's organizing committee meets a few times throughout the year to plan the details of the Fair. The members may be interested individuals or representatives from businesses or community groups that are dedicated to raising the profile of science and engineering education in Santa Barbara County. If you or your organization would like to get involved, please contact us.

Special Awards

In addition to the divisional award medals and qualifying projects to move up to the California Science and Engineering Fair or Broadcom MASTERS, students are vying for a variety of special awards. These awards are donations from the community and normally focus on an area or discipline (i.e. astronomy, watershed ecology, or electronics) important to the donor.

Sponsors

We also need donors to make it all possible. While the Fair is organized by volunteers, there are substantial costs associated with organizing and hosting the event. If you are interested in being one of the Fair's sponsors, please contact us for more information.
